We’re excited to launch our new monthly feature, NBE Spotlight, a series featuring Nature-Based Enterprises that are emerging as a powerful segment of businesses in the transition toward a nature-positive economy. Each month, we’ll showcase an NBE whose work exemplifies innovation and impact as an inspiration to other businesses and other stakeholders.
Kicking off the series is Biotonomy, a Spain-based nature-based business in autonomous, regenerative buildings and green infrastructure. Founded by Moein Nodehi, Biotonomy harnesses biomimicry, renewable energy, and circular water systems to slash carbon emissions, reduce resource consumption, and enhance biodiversity.
From Austria’s self-sufficient Autonomous Home to Aldi’s hydroponic green walls recycling 100% of wastewater, and a smart green facade for Novotel Madrid, their projects set new benchmarks in sustainability.
Recognised among the Top 20 innovative solutions contributing to the SDGs by UN-Habitat and winner of multiple sustainability awards, Biotonomy proves that nature-based design is both visionary and practical.
“When you are a start-up, you have a new product in the market, you should always focus on giving first, and as you’re giving, you’re also building a community, which is key and fundamental,” says Nodehi.
