
Nature-based Solutions - CPD Course
This ILI accredited CPD delivered with the Connecting Nature Enterprise Platform has been designed specifically for urban landscape practitioners: landscape architects, artists, architects, urban planners, ecologists and engineers. Professionals working with nature-based solutions who wish to broaden their knowledge base around the design, implementation and stewardship of nature-based solutions which places co-production at the heart of each stage. During the course, you will dive into the complexity of co-producing robust, measurable nature-based solutions, drawing on the learning outcomes and resources of the Connecting Nature Project, a Horizon 2020 innovation action that co-created nature-based solutions at scale across 10 European cities. Professor Marcus Collier, Trinity College Dublin is the external advisor to this process.
As practitioners, we have a leading role working with towns and cities to design, implement and manage nature-based solutions and innovations, building climate resilience, protecting biodiversity and creating livable towns and cities.
:When, Where and How
.Beginning in January 2023, the course will run every 4th Thursday through to June. Each module will run from 14.00 - 16.00 GMT. Modules 1, 3, 4 and 5 will be delivered online (using Zoom) and modules 2 and 6 will be in person
- Module 1: January 26th 2023, online.
- Module 2: February 23rd 2023, in person in Dublin.
- Module 3: March 23rd 2023, online.

Is there a fee?
There is a nominal fee of €100 + €1.65 service charge (€101.65) for each participant. The fee will be go towards course materials and the hosting of a closing event on June 22nd in Dublin.

On this ILI-accredited CPD on NBS you will:
1. Engage with the learning outcomes of the Connecting Nature Project.
2. Work with the Connecting Nature Resources: Frameworks, Guidebooks, Case studies and Innovations are among the project and resources.
During the course, we will explore each of the different elements of the Connecting Nature Framework. Each month a Connecting Nature partner who co-developed the Framework elements will speak to us on the different themes. Connecting Nature cities will share their experience of using different elements of the Framework to advance their NBS.
3. Develop your skills through peer-to-peer learning, thus honouring your own experience of implementing nature-based solutions, the challenges, barriers and successes faced.
4. Develop your learning by applying it to a place-based scenario over the duration of the course. (Ballina, Co. Mayo)
5. Contribute to Ireland’s discussion on climate resilience by creating and participating in a public exhibition and debate as part of the final event to this course on a closing event of “Nature-based Solutions – innovating with nature to create climate-resilient cities, towns and places in Ireland”

Assessment
The assessment will consist of the following:

Attendance – you will need to attend all modules, as each module builds from the previous.

Terms and Conditions
- Please note due to the requirement to attend in person for 2 modules, preference will be given to applicants from Ireland and N. Ireland.
- Applications will be accepted from other countries on condition that you understand the requirement to be in Dublin twice during the course delivery.
- Course participants outside of Ireland cannot be accredited by the ILI for their participation in the programme. You are still welcome to take part in the programme.
- Travel costs to and from Dublin are not covered.
