On Wednesday 15th of March hundreds of professionals from nature-based enterprises across the world joined the first Nature Futures webinar to hear from 10 industry leading professionals about the emerging trends, opportunities and challenges before us. Opening speaker, Fleur van Oostsroom Brummel, a Policy Officer for Nature-Based Solutions & Biodiveristy at the European Commission, highlighted the importance of nature-based enterprises in this just transition to a nature-positive economy.

Nature Futures 2023: Video Breakdown

 

Part 1: Welcome & Opening Address

Kieran Farrell, Strategic Growth & Operations at the Connecting Nature Enterprise Platform welcomes our speakers and attendees before giving the floor to our opening speaker Fleur van Oostsroom Brummel. A Policy Office for Nature-Based Soltions and Biodiversity with the European Commission, Fleur highlighted the work of nature-based enterprises (NBEs) in the implementation of a nature positive economy in real terms. She goes on to highlight the gap in investment for nature-based solutions and confirmed that the EU, a long term advocate for NBEs and NbS, will continue to invest in research and development into how we can overcome these and other barriers.

Part 2: Regenerative Tourism and Health & Wellbeing

CNEPs Regenerative Tourism Ambassador, Ally Dragozet of Sea Going Green introduces Ruth Spencer of the Marine Ecosystems Protected Area Trust (MEPA) to highlight some real world examples of regenerative tourism challenges and opportunities from Antigua. Ruth is followed by Shirley Gleeson of Ecowellness Consulting who highlights some topline trends in Health & Wellbeing before introducing Anna Maria Palsdottir from the Swedish University of Agrcultural Sciences (SLU). Anna Maria is a leading actor in the area of nature therapy and urban design.

Part 3: Regenerative Forestry & Smart Tech

Our Regenerative Foresry and Smart Tech Community Ambassadors, Colm O'Driscoll (Etifor) and Nadina Galle (Internet of Nature) highlight some top level trends before introducing Ray Ó Foghlú from Hometree and & Max Lerner from the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation.

Part 4: Ecosysyem Restoration & Regenerative Agriculture

A fascinating conversation with Paul Jepson & Philippe Birker. Paul has been involved in ecosystem restoration across the world for decades and his experience spans from being an early board member of Rewilding Europe to Head of Innovation with Ecosulis and now Credit Nature. Philippe is a co-founder f Climate Farmers and is a leading figure driven by his passion to scale regenerative agriculture and put farmers back at the centre of our food and agricultural system.

Part 5: Urban Landscapes & Community Engagement

Roisin Byrne, Nature Based Landscape Architects, is the Community Ambssador for CNEP's Urban Landscapes community and she introduces Daniela Rizzi, Senior Offices for Nature-Based Solutions, Green Infrastructure and Biodiversity with ICLEI Europe who gives us an introduction to the New European Bauhaus inititative. She is joined by Dimitra Xidous of EM|Path who speaks on the important of meaninful commnity engagement and is introduced by Paula Vandergert, CNEPs Community Engagement Ambassador, also from EM|Path.

Part 6: Green Buildings & Water Management

This session is introduced by speaker Moein Nodehi  of Biotonomy who is also our new Green Buildings Ambassador on the platform. He is joined by Fabio Masi of IRIDRA who brings with him, decades of experience in water management from working with the International Water Assocation (IWA) and the project co-author for over 550 Designs of Constructed Wetlands worldwide and author of over 100 scientific papers.
